What is Reflexology?
Finding Your Natural Balance
In addition to acupuncture, I also provide reflexology treatments, which are based on the principle that there are reflex points on the feet that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body. Reflexology has been in use as a method of healing for over 5,000 years, known to have been practised in a similar manner by ancient civilisations in Egypt, India and China. The treatment has its roots in Eastern philosophy, and is based on the ancient Chinese theory of Qi, an energy that flows all around our bodies which can be balanced or imbalanced.
A reflexology treatment involves massaging and manipulating these areas on the feet to promote relaxation and the easing of tension, by encouraging the free flow of energy. By applying pressure and massage techniques to specific points on your feet, I can help you to identify any imbalances, release congestion and improve your health and wellbeing. It may help systems of the body in order for them to complement and aid one another to in re-establishing your body’s homeostasis on a physiological, psychological and spiritual level.
How Can Reflexology Help?
Experiences with reflexology sessions vary from person to person, from a general feeling of relaxation to a sense of “lightness” or tingling across the body, as well as warmth, and a physical perception of energy flowing through the body. Reflexology can help by strengthening the immune system by removing toxins, enhancing energy and vitality by stimulating nerve supply, improving circulation and digestive health and calming anxiety and stress – alongside so much more!
Your First Session
In your first reflexology session, we’ll work together to design a bespoke treatment plan to suit your individual needs. I will complete an initial consultation to gather information regarding your health, lifestyle and medical history, which will be followed by your first reflexology treatment. In your agreed treatment plan, you may decide to complete a course of reflexology for a specific condition on a weekly or fortnightly basis, before continuing with regular treatments on a monthly basis to maintain your health and wellbeing.
Anyone can enjoy a reflexology treatment, as it’s suitable for most adults, children and babies alike – a gentle, relaxing and non-invasive session where you remain fully clothed with only your footwear removed.
